More Coaching

I was in a minor rut this week. I hadn't had a losing day all month before dropping close to 9 buy-ins over 3 days. The first day was pretty awful as I dropped almost 6.5 buy-ins in about 680 hands. The second day I actually made around half a buy-in, but it was a struggle, and I was not satisfied with my game. The third day I was pretty meh about my game and couldn't get much to go my way, dropping over 2.5 buy-ins.

The worst part was that I wasn't sure how much of the funk was due to running bad, and how much was to poor play. I was extremely satisfied with my play for the first two weeks of the month but this past week has left me in a state of discontent. I played a fairly short session on Friday night before going out and I made about 3/4 of a buy-in. I decided to take Saturday off to spend with Lina and to refocus. Taking a weekend day off is never fun, as I question whether it's worth sacrificing some amazing games, but it was probably for the best.

I had my second coaching session with Baluga today and I think it went really well. I've started thinking about the right things and I think it's been a huge benefit to my game. It also helped that I won almost 4 buy-ins today to get a lot of confidence back! Today's session was actually pretty standard, and I didn't have many interesting or difficult decisions. I just played solid poker throughout and made the most out of the many awesome situations I was put in.

In other news, I'll be back in Vegas in just over a week and I'm pretty excited. I'll be there from March 1 to March 6, staying at the Imperial Palace. I was intending on going with a friend from back home, Tom, but with some recent complications, that's TBD. Ross will be staying with me there as well. Live poker can be mind numbingly boring in large doses, but I haven't played a home game in a while and I've actually been looking forward to getting back to the live games in Vegas and pwning some live donks. I'm 10x the player I was last time, and I pwned pretty hard last time. Now I just need to grow some balls and play 5/10 or higher (unlikely lol).
